Tree Removal Permit: Residents should be aware of Borough of Ramsey Ordinance No. 30-2000, which states that a permit is required to remove more than six trees per year with a diameter in excess of four inches in caliper measured at a height of four feet above the ground. The caliper is the diameter of the tree. Fines will be imposed for violation of this ordinance. Permits are available in the Zoning Department at Borough Hall. Did you know that: Damage can be done to trees by weed whackers and lawn mowers. Young trees can be severely damaged or even killed if their bark is torn by these machines. If you have someone to take care of your property, please advise them of this. A small bed around trees containing mulch is one solution to this problem. Any work required of Borough trees, including trimming and removals, must be done through the Shade Tree Commission. Borough trees are those within the Borough's right-of-way, usually the first ten feet from the curbline or edge of the road. If there is a problem with a Borough tree, please report it to the Borough Hall. |
