Ramsey Recreation offers a wide variety of programs for all ages and many seasonally themed special events. Sports programs for children include bowling, basketball, and wrestling. Adults may participate in soccer and men's and women's softball. Throughout the year, recreation offerings include free throw contests for boys and girls, the Easter egg hunt, Home Run Derby, and the Halloween parade and costume contest. Trips to Atlantic City are offered each year. A special event for 2009 is the Labor Day trip to the United States Open, sure to appeal to all tennis fans. Trips for seniors are also sponsored by the Recreation Commission as is the annual Senior Citizens Gala. Movie events are scheduled at Ramsey Cinema on Main Street during school vacations and at Finch Park during the summer. The annual Jack McKeown Ramsey Run (both 5K and 10K races) has been expanded to include a 1.2 fun run/walk as part of the Mayor's Wellness Campaign. The annual Dog Show is recreation's contribution to Ramsey Day and is always a crowd favorite. Summer camp at Finch Park, beginning in late June and running through July, provided activities for over four hundred young campers in 2009. Monthly meetings of the Recreation Commission are open to all residents and suggestions for new activities and programs are always welcome.
